O'Grady is the daughter of Jim O'Grady and Jan O'Grady. Jim O'Grady works as financial advisor. She grew up in Wheaton and went to Wheaton North School. She graduated in 1981. The model was featured on several television commercials, before moving into Los Angeles. O'Grady began her career modelling in Montgomery Ward and making commercials.
